Records fall at Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sale

The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale posted record-breaking results this week, achieving its highest-ever gross, average, and median.

Across two sessions, 382 juveniles sold for US$52,835,500, producing an average of US$138,313 and a median of US$70,000 – surpassing the previous year’s benchmarks.

Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning Jr. hailed the outcome as a “superfecta,” noting strong growth since 2024 and endorsing the new format, which encouraged buyers to spend more time inspecting horses and engaging with consignors.

Bloodstock agent Pedro Lanz was a leading buyer, securing a US$2.1-million son of Flightline and a US$1.375-million Gun Runner filly on behalf of KAS Stable. Lee Ackerley also made headlines with a US$1-million Corniche colt.

Browning expressed optimism that the revised approach to the sale would yield more durable racehorses, emphasising long-term benefits for both buyers and the industry.
