Former News Corp executive Tom Salom has been appointed as new Chair of Greyhound Racing Victoria.
Salom succeeds outgoing chair Peita Duncan, having played a key role in sporting media partnerships and contracts with the AFL, Cricket Australia, Tennis Australia and Racing Victoria.
“Tom Salom is a highly respected leader, and he will bring extensive sporting and corporate expertise to the role of the Chair,” Minister for Racing Anthony Carbines said. “I wish him all the best at Greyhound Racing Victoria following Peita Duncan’s departure.”
“And I want to thank Peita Duncan for her leadership and dedication to the board for over ten years. She’s been a passionate advocate for the industry and supporter of the thousands of Victorians involved in the sport – she will be missed.”
Salom said he was delighted to lead GRV at a time the industry is positioned for growth.
“I’ll be drawing on my commercial and media experience and networks to broaden the sport’s audience and grow engagement with existing and future participants and fans of greyhound racing,” he said.
“GRV is in a very strong position thanks largely to the dedication of outgoing chair Peita Duncan and I’ll be working hard to ensure that success is continued.”
