Savabeel-heavy Newhaven confirms four-strong stallion roster
Newhaven Park has confirmed a four-stallion line-up for 2026, reaffirming its commitment to the Savabeel sireline with three of the quartet either sons or grandsons of the champion New Zealand stallion.
Savabeel’s Group 1 Winx Stakes and Rosehill Guineas winner Mo’unga, who was raced by Tony Fung Investments and trained by Annabel Archibald for the majority of his career, will enter his third season at Newhaven Park at a fee of $22,000 (all fees inc GST), reduced from last year’s $25,000.
Cool Aza Beel, another son of Savabeel, heads into his sixth season at Newhaven Park on the back of covering his biggest book of mares to date (131). As a result of his results with his two and three-year-olds, which includes JJ Atkins winner Cool Archie, Cool Aza Beel will stand for an increased fee of $22,000.
Raced by leviathan owner Max Whitby, who also had a share in Savabeel, Cool Archie will stand for an introductory fee of $16,500.
Newhaven studmaster John Kelly announced in March that Cool Archie would return to his birthplace to join the Boorowa farm’s stallion roster.
“There have been very few two-year-olds capable of putting together five wins in succession, four of those being long-established Queensland stakes races, and for me it is one of his major selling points,” Kelly said at the time.
“His win in the JJ Atkins obviously made him a potential stallion prospect, and we didn’t hesitate to show our interest when it was confirmed that his racing career had unfortunately concluded prematurely.”
Xtravagant, a son of Pentire, rounds out the Newhaven roster at an unchanged fee of $11,000.
