Silent Intent puts Maribyrnong Trial on agenda with second jumpout win

The $190,000 Hellbent colt drew clear over 800 metres at Flemington, strengthening his prospects of an early-season debut for Tony and Calvin McEvoy.

Promising two-year-old Silent Intent has moved closer to a Listed Maribyrnong Trial start after recording his second Flemington jumpout win in September.

The Hellbent colt began quickly in Thursday’s 800-metre Heat 2 before drawing clear late to win by three lengths. Champagne Time finished second and Bella Divina was third in the six-runner heat.

McEvoy Mitchell Racing and Belmont Bloodstock Agency bought Silent Intent for $190,000 at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Heat 3 was taken out by stablemate Ankaa, a colt by Anamoe, who charged home to defeat an unnamed Tassort colt from Lindsay Park. The winner races in the OTI colours and was a $300,000 buy from the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

The third of the two-year-old trials, Heat 4, was won by the John McArdle-trained Musandam, a Kia Ora Stud-owned half-sister to Group 1 winner Qafila. She held off the McEvoy-trained Pierata filly Maalefushi.
