Spring stars’ barrier trial comebacks delayed

Mid-winter warm-ups for a host of trainer Chris Waller’s spring stars has been delayed due to Sydney’s wet weather.

Waller’s Group 1-winning stablemates Autumn Glow, Autumn Boy, Lady Shenandoah, Aeliana and Ohope Wins were all expected to have their first barrier trials for the preparation at Randwick on Friday.

The barrier trial session, including three 900m course proper heats, was postponed until Monday by Racing NSW stewards due to 34mm of rain which fell at the eastern suburbs track on Thursday evening.

The Michael Freedman-trained pair, the Hobartville winner Ninja and rising three-year-old colt Incognito, are also slated to barrier trial in heats reserved for Group-class horses on Monday as is the Tom Charlton-trained Napoleonic.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Fully Lit, who was runner-up to Autumn Glow in last year’s Group 1 Epsom Handicap, will have his third barrier trial of the campaign in heat one, having not raced since last November’s Golden Eagle.
