Super new sponsor for $10 million Golden Eagle
Asahi Beverages has partnered with the Australian Turf Club and Racing NSW for Saturday’s $10 million Group 1 Asahi Super Dry Golden Eagle at Royal Randwick.
The partnership expands Asahi Beverages’ existing role as the ATC’s official beverage partner, with the company joining the race as a sponsor for the first time.
The 2026 edition marks the Golden Eagle’s elevation to Group 1 status, with the race established as one of Sydney’s leading wagering events.
Ten per cent of prizemoney from the race will be donated to charities associated with each runner, taking total distributions to charitable organisations through the event to $6.2 million.
Australian Turf Club chief executive Steve McMahon said the partnership reflected the race’s growth.
“The Asahi Super Dry Golden Eagle has firmly established itself as one of the most significant races anywhere in the world,’’ McMahon said.
“In just a few short years, it has become a genuine international racing showcase, attracting elite horses, global attention and some of the sport’s biggest participants in horses, jockeys and trainers.
“The combination of exceptional prizemoney, an outstanding raceday experience and the vibrancy of Sydney in Spring has elevated the Asahi Super Dry Golden Eagle further.
“The Asahi Super Dry Golden Eagle is no longer an emerging race, it is a major fixture on the racing calendar.’’
