UK jockey Larson links with in-form Sears stable
English jockey Fred Larson has joined the father-and-daughter training partnership of Tony and Maddysen Sears at Aquis Park on the Gold Coast.
Larson, who has ridden more than 100 winners in the UK, said the Sears stable provided an ideal base as he looks to establish himself in southeast Queensland.
The 26-year-old said the depth of racing opportunities in the region influenced his decision to relocate.
Larson rode extensively in metropolitan and provincial Victoria during November and December before opting to move north after limited success.
He said the Sears operation was heading in the right direction with the stable expected to generate strong riding opportunities.
The Sears stable scored a Magic Millions victory on Saturday with Yellow Brick and is targeting further success when the horse contests the $2 million Magic Millions Cup at its home track this weekend.
