Group 1-winning mare Secret Admirer has died while foaling a filly by Darley sire Native Trail.
Milburn Creek Stud, owned by John and Trish Muir, announced the mare’s death on social media, remembering the daughter of Dubawi for her “determination and grace” on the racetrack.
Trained by Grahame Begg, Secret Admirer won three races in a 28-start career that included Group 1 victories in the Flight Stakes and Epsom Handicap over the famous Randwick mile.
At stud, Secret Admirer has left six named foals ncluding Group 3 winner Danawi and Group 1-placed Townsend.
Secret Admirer’s Native Trail foal couldn’t be saved but her legacy will live on through untried daughters of Dundeel and The Autumn Sun.
