Officiate, a son of Justify who topped last year’s Magic Millions Horses In Training Sale, has broken through for his first win.
The colt, trained by Chris Waller and ridden by James McDonald, rallied strongly from well back on a testing track before scoring narrowly at Canterbury.
Bred by Coolmore, Officiate was a $300,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase.
He was reoffered later in 2024, fetching $700,000 from the KO Racing Horses In Training draft.

Officiate is a half-brother to stakes-placed Lady Young and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Encosta de Lago mare Port Augusta.
“He didn’t quite know how to put them away, but he was the fit horse today and had to dig deep, but got the job done,” assistant trainer Charlie Duckworth said.
“He’ll take good confidence going forward.”
This year's Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale will be held on the Gold Coast on October 9.
