Zee Drop, a 10-year-old Lemon Drop Kid mare in foal to Flightline, sold to Al Ruwais Stables for US$1 million (A$1.434 million) to top Wednesday’s second session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

Consigned by Lane’s End as agent, the dam of Florida Oaks (G3) third Kokomotion was the 24th horse to make seven figures across the opening two sessions, against 18 at the same stage last year.

Bertie Butler signed for owner Saleh Al Otaibi, and Al Ruwais finished as the session’s leading buyer with five horses for US$2,455,000 (A$3.521 million), including the Scat Daddy mare Heavenly Scat, in foal to Munnings, at US$600,000 (A$861,000).

Overall, 210 horses sold through the ring for US$39,535,000 (A$56.705 million), down 16.53 per cent on the US$47,362,000 (A$67.932 million) recorded for 235 horses a year ago. The average fell 6.59 per cent to US$188,262 (A$270,000) and the median dropped from US$160,000 (A$229,000) to US$150,000 (A$215,000).

Cumulatively, 362 horses have grossed US$135,464,000 (A$194.297 million), up 12.79 per cent, at an average of US$374,210 (A$537,000), which is 11.24 per cent higher than in 2025. The median is unchanged at US$225,000 (A$323,000).

“Yesterday was a fantastic sale and today was a little more normal in how it measured out. But in saying that, quality horses sold well,” Keeneland vice-president of sales Tony Lacy said.

Cormac Breathnach, Keeneland’s senior director of sales operations, said pinhookers were active but “maybe not pitting themselves against each other so much to this point in the sale”, while buyers with volume orders for weanlings had yet to strike at their usual rate.

Three mares made US$650,000 (A$932,000) each.

Green Lantern Stables bought the Gun Runner four-year-old Runrate, in foal to Nyquist. Repole Stable signed for Shandy, an Arrogate mare in foal to Army Mule. St. Elias Stable took the Into Mischief mare Shop Lifting, in foal to Yaupon. The top weanling was an Arabian Knight filly, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Seismic Beauty, who sold to Frisco Bloodstock for US$485,000 (A$696,000).
