10 per cent share in Private Eye, Godolphin draft in Magic Millions Digital sale

An unreserved 10 per cent share in Proven Thoroughbreds’ grand Group 1-winning gelding Private Eye will be offered in the latest Magic Millions Digital online sale.

The Joe Pride-trained nine-year-old, who was runner-up in the PB Lawrence in Melbourne first-up, is slated to run in next week’s Group 2 Tramway Stakes or the following week’s Group 2 Theo Marks in Sydney.

Because of Private Eye’s racing program, the auction for the City Tattersalls Club’s 10 per cent equity in the $12.99 million prize money earner will open on Friday and close at 12pm (AEST) on Monday, two days earlier than the remainder of the horses catalogued for the August 28 to September 2 sale.

The City Tattersalls Club has been placed into administration, forcing its share in Private Eye to be sold.

The shorter bidding window will allow the new owner of Private Eye to have their name and details in the racebook prior to his next start.

Also in the upcoming Magic Millions sale will be seven horses being offered by Godolphin, with the sale the first time the racing and breeding operation has used the online platform.

A 2 per cent share in Kosciuszko favourite So You Pence, who is trained by Matt Dale for syndicator Kurrinda Bloodstock, is also up for sale as will be nine broodmares from Arrowfield Stud.

The full Magic Millions Digital catalogue will be released on Friday.
