Storm Boy and Alabama Express equal busiest sires in 2025
Coolmore’s Storm Boy and Yulong’s Alabama Express were the joint busiest stallions across the 2025 Australian breeding season with 227 mares each.
The Australian Studbook published its March 1 numbers, which account for finalised figures for the past breeding season. Three stallions breached the 200 mark, with Home Affairs the third on 205.
Coolmore Australia had three of the top four busiest sires, with Switzerland on 192, while Yulong’s first-season sire Growing Empire had 182.
Newgate’s busiest stallion was Stay Inside on 181, while The Autumn Sun had a book of 178.
Champion sire Zoustar had a book of 171 at Widden at his fee of $275,000. He has now served 2176 mares across his 12-season career. Hellbent (167) and Hawaii Five Oh (167) rounded off the Top 10.
