RV expands Boneo Park racehorse retiree event to three days

Racing Victoria (RV) has confirmed the return of the Off The Track Carnival at Boneo Park, scheduled for September 11 to 13, with the event expanded to a three-day format following its inaugural year.

The 2026 edition will accommodate up to 500 thoroughbreds, positioning it as the largest equestrian event for retired racehorses in Victoria.

Open to retired racehorses from across Australia, the carnival is staged during the Spring Racing Carnival period and is designed to highlight post-racing pathways, with examples including Group 1 winners Zaaki and Hartnell.

The event is open to all Off The Track riders with no membership required, and entry fees are capped at $100 per horse per class, inclusive of administration and facility costs.

Prizemoney will increase by more than $30,000 to exceed $260,000, with $500 bonus awards available across the Masters, Next Generation and Racing Industry categories.

The program will feature 23 championship classes across dressage, combined training, show jumping and show horse, up from 17 in 2025.

Six Rising Star championship classes will also be introduced, open to Stud Book-registered thoroughbreds that last raced or trialled within two years of the event, with previous competitors including Emissary and Scallopini.

The Celebrity Show Jumping Challenge will return, with jockeys, trainers and equestrian riders competing, while entries open on June 17 via Boneo Park’s website and the Off The Track Community platform, with public admission free.
