Yulong adds to ownership of Within The Law

Yulong has increased its equity in Group 2-winning and Group 1-placed filly Within The Law, paying $70,000 for a 5 per cent share in the daughter of Lucky Vega through Magic Millions Digital on Wednesday.

The Bjorn Baker-trained rising four-year-old was bred by Yulong and sold to syndicator Darby Racing for $30,000 at the 2024 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. In her 18-start career to date, Within The Law has won a Sweet Embrace Stakes and been placed in a Group 1 Champagne Stakes and a Flight Stakes.

Small percentages in Within The Law have previously been sold online, with Yulong able to buy back into the filly who is by its shuttle sire Lucky Vega, a son of Lope De Vega who will stand at its Hunter Valley base at Segenhoe Stud this year.

The sale of the 5 per cent share values Within The Law at $1.4 million.

Belmont Oaks-placed Kimberley Rose, a four-year-old mare by Hellbent, was also sold via this week’s Magic Millions Digital sale, selling to Western Australian breeder Yarradale Stud for $50,000.
