Primetime Emmy switched to Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint
Australian-bred filly Primetime Emmy will contest the US$1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Keeneland on October 30, French trainer Francis-Henri Graffard has confirmed.
The Extreme Choice filly had been aimed at the 1600-metre Juvenile Fillies Turf when a quarter-share in her was catalogued for Keeneland’s Championship Sale. She now drops back to the 1100-metre turf sprint, where she is among the 12 horses initially selected from 28 pre-entries.
Graffard told Sporting Life that owner Matthew Sandblom wants to “prove that Extreme Choice is a wonderful stallion, so he’s really keen to go to the Breeders’ Cup too”.
She beat Scythe by a short head in the Group 3 Prix Eclipse on September 19, making her Extreme Choice’s first Northern Hemisphere Group winner.
The 25 per cent interest in Primetime Emmy will be offered at the Championship Sale on October 28. Final Breeders’ Cup entries close on October 26.
