Shares in Vauban and Wine Dark Sea on offer in Inglis Digital Cup sale

Shares in Melbourne Cup contenders Vauban and Wine Dark Sea will be offered in a select Inglis Digital Spring Carnival Sale, giving buyers an interest in a runner days out from the November 3 race.

Bidding opens at 12pm (AEDT) on Monday, October 26, with the final countdown starting from 4pm on Wednesday, October 28. Inglis said multiple shares would be offered in both horses.

Vauban, trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, has earned more than $2.6 million in prize money across Europe and Australia and has run in each of the past three Melbourne Cups. He won the Group 3 Sky High Stakes in the autumn before placing in the Group 1 Tancred Stakes and Doomben Cup. He resumed in Wednesday’s Geelong Cup carrying 60.5kg.

Wine Dark Sea, a staying prospect for Australian Bloodstock trained by Harry Charlton, won by 13 lengths at Carlisle in June, then took the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury in August, beating Dubai Honour. He has since contested the Caulfield Cup and was among the 58 Melbourne Cup second acceptors.
