Dubai World Cup winner Magnitude to join Ashford roster

Magnitude, the Dubai World Cup-winning four-year-old, will stand at Coolmore’s Ashford Stud in Kentucky when he retires from racing after the global operation secured his breeding rights from owner Winchell Thoroughbreds.

The son of Not This Time will continue racing in the colours of Winchell Thoroughbreds before commencing his stallion career at Ashford.

Magnitude announced himself as one of the world’s leading dirt horses with his front-running victory over Japanese star Forever Young in the US$12 million Dubai World Cup at Meydan in March before backing up with success in the US$2 million Grade 1 Stephen Foster Stakes at Churchill Downs in June to earn an automatic berth in November’s Breeders’ Cup Classic.

Bred in Kentucky by Ron Stolich, Magnitude is out of the Bernardini mare Rockadelic, a daughter of dual Grade 1 and American Oaks winner Octave.

“We’ve been watching him closely since his spectacular performance in the Risen Star at three, and we believe he has all the attributes to become an exceptional stallion. He is a striking, exceptionally good- looking horse with tremendous presence,” Ashford’s Charlie O’Connor said.
