Quarter-share in Primetime Emmy heads to auction before Breeders’ Cup target

A share in Australian-bred French Group 3 winner Primetime Emmy will be offered at Keeneland later this month.

Two days ahead of her expected start in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, Keeneland’s Championship Sale on October 28 will offer a 25 per cent stake in Australian-bred Extreme Choice filly Primetime Emmy.

Keeneland said the quarter-share would be offered as part of the auction’s third edition, while Australian breeder Matthew Sandblom, of Kingstar Farm, said he looked forward to sharing her future campaign with the successful buyer.

“I have had so much faith in Extreme Choice from the very beginning, and to be able to race his progeny on the biggest stage globally brings my vision to fruition,” he said.

“I am so excited to have Primetime Emmy competing at Keeneland in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and look forward to sharing the journey well into the future with her successful buyer at the Championship Sale.”

Primetime Emmy was bred in Australia on Northern Hemisphere time specifically to race as a two-year-old in France. She is trained by Francis-Henri Graffard.

The filly won the Group 3 Prix Eclipse at Chantilly in September, making her Extreme Choice’s first Northern Hemisphere Group winner.

Sandblom’s out-of-season breeding programme produced about six pregnancies from roughly 30 mares, with two resulting fillies, including Primetime Emmy, sent to Graffard.

Primetime Emmy’s dam is stakes-winning Princess Emmy, by King’s Chapel; Primetime Emmy is a half-sister to Thurlow, a Group 3 winner, and stakes winner Three Kings.
