Another Group 1 star for Starspangledbanner
Starspangledbanner’s extraordinary 2026 continued as his two-year-old filly Senorita Bonita became his fourth individual Group 1 winners of the year with victory in the Prix Morny at Deauville.
The 900,000 gns Craven Breeze-Up topper in April, the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained filly charged home to win in great style by a widening four lengths.
“That was a fantastic performance and all roads lead to the Cheveley Park at the end of September,” Simon Crisford told reporters.
“They set some very good fractions up front, she’s shown a great turn of foot and she finished off super well.”
“It was a deep, deep renewal and any Group 1 is fantastic to win. It’s a great testament to the staff back at home and everyone involved and it’s great to win for Shaikh Nasser and Shaikh Khalid.”
Her victory follows the Group 1 wins of fellow Starspangledbanner progeny Gstaad, Precise and Kensington Lane.
A total of four Northern hemisphere Group 1 winners puts him equal with Frankel and Too Darn Hot and only behind Night Of Thunder and Into Mischief, who have five apiece.
