Bet Deck fined for unsolicited approach to customer

Online bookmaker Bet Deck has been fined almost $30,000 for breaching the terms of its Northern Territory licence.

In a judgment handed down by the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission, Bet Deck was penalised for a contravention of a responsible online gambling code.

The commission found the bookmaker had engaged in an unsolicited approach to a punter but it dismissed a complaint that the company did not comply with responsible gambling practices.

Bet Deck was fined $27,540.

The punter’s bid for $119,000 in compensation was dismissed.

Bet Deck was sold to a third party in December 2023 and the brand no longer operates.
