£4 corners multi returns almost £1 million for Betfair punter
A Portsmouth punter turned a £4 stake into £997,385.09 when all 12 legs of a corners accumulator landed in English Football League matches on Saturday.
The 45-year-old, who has not been named, backed over 11.5 corners in each game at combined odds of 249,346/1. The longest-priced leg was Stevenage v MK Dons at 3/1. The shortest was Oxford United v Bradford at 5/4, which finished goalless but still produced enough corners.
Eleven of the 12 matches produced at least 13 corners. AFC Wimbledon v Wycombe was the only one to finish on exactly 12, and its last corner came in the 76th minute.
“Me and some friends usually do an accumulator on the weekend for a bit of fun, we all pick a leg and put them in our group chat, both teams to score usually, and I like to do corners,” he said.
“I had £4 in my account so I decided to do one of my own with a few more corners in.”
The Aston Villa supporter said he did not notice the bet had landed until about half an hour after the last game finished. He plans to pay off his mortgage, buy a new car and take a family holiday.
