Guest House to miss rest of spring with hamstring injury
Golden Slipper winner Guest House will be spelled for three months, ending an Everest preparation that remained under consideration after his Golden Rose defeat.
Golden Slipper winner Guest House will miss the rest of spring after sustaining a near-hind hamstring injury, ending his proposed build-up towards The Everest.
Co-trainer Mick Price advised Racing.com that the colt would be spelled for three months.
“We were not happy with his action on his near side hind,” Price said.
“He has been diagnosed with disrupted fibres in the ligamentous.”
A week before the setback, Guest House started as the $2.45 favourite in the Golden Rose, where he finished sixth behind Warwoven, 5.55 lengths adrift after clashing with St Gotthard.
Coolmore’s Everest slot had been considered the colt’s likely route into the field if the owners proceeded after the Golden Rose.
Price said Guest House would go to Coolmore’s Mount White facility for his spell.
