Gypsy Goddess’ sister Proxima Dea remains perfect

Well-related filly Proxima Dea has maintained her unbeaten record with an impressive Class 1 victory over 1600m at Gosford on Thursday.

The daughter of Westbury Stud sire Tarzino first announced herself with an all-the-way win over 1400m at Randwick in July and followed that up with an on-pace success with Chad Schoifield in the saddle.

Proxima Dea boasts an outstanding pedigree, being a full-sister to Gypsy Goddess, winner of the G1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) and Australia’s Champion Three-Year-Old Filly for the 2021/22 season. She was sold as a broodmare to Japan after six wins from 10 starts.

Trainer David Payne took a patient approach with the Proxima Dea before her debut, providing her with extensive race-day preparation through six barrier trials between December and June.

A $300,000 buy for Ciaron Maher Racing from North Bloodstock, she looks a staying filly of promise.
