Corporate bookmaker BlueBet has been fined $50,000 for gambling advertising breaches that a magistrate has described as having “a high degree of negligence”.
In a finding released by the Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC) on Monday, BlueBet was found guilty of 43 charges relating to public billboard advertising placed on two major roads in Victoria.
Under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003, it is an offence to display gambling advertising material on or above a public road.
The VGCCC launched an investigation following a complaint from a member of the public and charged BlueBet in August 2023.
