Inglis seeks right balance as it trims Australian Weanling Sale catalogue
Inglis has moderated the size of its Australian Weanling Sale catalogue but remains confident in the foal market following a record result in 2025.

Inglis has catalogued 500 foals for its Australian Weanling Sale, opting for a more selective approach after significantly expanding its offering in 2025.
The catalogue contains 81 fewer weanlings than the 2025 edition, but it is bigger than the previous two editions, as Inglis looks to find the right mix for investors and end-users.
Included in the mix are the progeny of almost more than 100 different stallions, including champions I Am Invincible, Snitzel and Zoustar, as well as global star Frankel.
Among the collection are siblings or half-siblings to six Group 1 winners, including a brother to Shadow Hero and a half-brother to weanling sale graduate, Hayasugi, and a sister to Quick Thinker.
There are also progeny of four Group 1 winners – Xanadu, Diamond Drille, Linky Dink and Miss Wilson.
The catalogue also features the first crops of a host of stallions including Benbatl, Cylinder, Don Corleone, Doull, Generation, Hawaii Five Oh, King’s Gambit, Mo’unga, Native Trail, Ozzmosis, Panthalassa, Shinzo and Triple Time.
“The Inglis Weanling Sales Series has been a fruitful market for buyers at all levels for a number of years, be they hobbyists, traders or end-users,” Inglis Bloodstock chief executive Sebastian Hutch said.
“We have made no secret of our objective to upgrade the sale in terms of the quantity and quality of stock offered in recent years and it has been reflected in improved results across the board, which has seen our weanling sales series develop real momentum.”
Hutch pointed to recent sale graduates such as Hayasugi and Kimochi as well as Straight Charge, Shiki, Hard Kick, Field Of Play, Affirmative Action, Miss Icelandic, Master Fay, Brudenell, Coin Toss, Live To Tell, All That Pizzazz, Cardinal Gem and Strait Acer.
He highlighted the Shinzo sibling to Splintex and Invictus Salute, the brother to Bellazaine, a Snitzel daughter of Chassis, a Harry Angel brother to Hayasugi, a Home Affairs daughter of How Womantic as some of the standouts on paper.
Last year’s sale topper, a $775,000 Too Darn Hot colt, sold for $2.2 million at this week’s Easter Yearling Sale.
“In 2026, the Australian Weanling Sale will be unsurpassed in terms of the opportunities available to buyers and we are looking forward to welcoming buyers from across Australia and from overseas to Sydney in May,” Hutch said.
The sale will be held at Riverside on Tuesday, May 5, and Wednesday, May 6, kick-starting the Inglis Breeding Stock Sales Series, which will be immediately followed by The Chairman’s Sale on the evening of Thursday, May 7.
