Inter Dominion final fuels record wagering for Queensland harness racing
A thrilling Inter Dominion final at Albion Park last Saturday powered a Queensland harness racing record for wagering figures, with the feature pacing championship producing the biggest betting turnover ever recorded on a harness race in the state.
The $1 million Inter Dominion Pacing Final generated $1.6 million in domestic turnover, eclipsing the previous Queensland record set by the 2023 edition of the race by 16 per cent.
Strong support for the feature race helped push domestic turnover for the entire Inter Dominion meeting to a record $7 million, up three per cent on the previous mark set at last year’s carnival.
Racing Queensland Acting CEO Lachlan Murray said the record figures reflected the success of a memorable series.
“This year’s Ladbrokes Inter Dominion series was one for the ages, with our local champions well and truly occupying centre stage,” Murray said.
“The record wagering results are thanks to many in the industry, including our participants, broadcast, media and wagering partners, attendees across the carnival and the Albion Park, Redcliffe and Marburg clubs.”
Albion Park officials were forced to close the gates after race four when the venue reached capacity.
The Inter Dominion returns to Albion Park next year for the final season of the current three-year hosting agreement.
