Jimmysstar’s brother off the mark with Ballarat win
In’kantosstar has given jockey Ethan Brown reason to believe he can follow his famous brother Jimmysstar into the metropolitan ranks after making a dominant win at Ballarat on Tuesday.
By Per Incanto from the Zed mare Anniesstar, In’kantosstar was sent out a $1.24 favourite and raced away to score by almost three lengths over 1200 metres, despite throwing Brown from the saddle while being placed into the barriers.
“He is a very nice horse,” Brown told Racing.com, declaring he would be surprised if In’kantosstar did not progress to “at least” a city level.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, In’kantosstar is raced by several of Jimmysstar’s connections and carries the same silks of prominent owner Ozzie Kheir.
Brown said In’kantosstar still had plenty to learn, but believed there was considerable improvement to come after he appeared to idle once hitting the lead at only his second racetrack appearance.
Jimmysstar is expected to launch his spring campaign in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield on August 29.
