Maiden win for Morlock and his sire Finance Tycoon

Kooringal Stud-based stallion Finance Tycoon, a Group-winning two- and three-year-old, sired a breakthrough first crop winner in South Australia on Friday.

The Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Morlock, a gelding by the son of champion sire Written Tycoon, won the 1200m 2YO Benchmark 62 by three quarters of a length at Murray Bridge at his third start.

Morlock is one of three runners to start by Finance Tycoon to date from his crop of 31 foals, having started his stud career in Victoria.

After his first season, Finance Tycoon relocated to the NSW Riverina to the Lamont family’s Kooringal Stud where he produced a crop of 36 foals.

Finance Tycoon will stand for a reduced fee of $8800 (inc GST) this year while his rostermate Sandbar will stand for a fee of $11,000.
