Mile races aplenty for Pride Of Jenni

Pride Of Jenni will celebrate her ninth birthday on August 21 and the marvel mare is back in training at Ciaron Maher’s Cranbourne stable being aimed at the spring.

A last-start second in the Group 1 Doomben Cup at 2000m, a distance at which she also finished runner-up in March’s Australian Cup, Pride Of Jenni is being prepared for a suite of spring races over 1600m.

“We’re really pleased with her. She’ll be ready to kick off in a race such as the Feehan, which we’ve won before first-up. We’ve got races like an Empire Rose, the Champions Mile, you could go back up to Sydney and run in the King Charles,” Maher’s assistant trainer Jack Turnbull told Racing.com.

“With a horse like her of her quality, we’ve got a lot of options – we’ll be guided by how she performs and what Tony wants to do with her.”

Pride Of Jenni could resume in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes, run at Caulfield on September 27 while Moonee Valley is out of action.
