Queensland Derby trifecta heads to Hong Kong

The first three home in this year’s Queensland Derby are confirmed to do their future racing in Hong Kong, with runner-up Monopolistic and third-placegetter Inspired Legend following the winner Providence offshore.

Monopolistic will join the stable of John Size, while Inspired Legend has been purchased to race for David Eustace after the pair filled the minor placings behind Providence in the Group 1 feature at Eagle Farm in June.

The Queensland Derby form has been further plundered with the first two home in the Group 3 Rough Habit Plate also heading to Hong Kong, where Kilman will join Me Tsui and Beauty Swift will race out of the Tony Cruz stable.

They are among the latest arrivals into Hong Kong alongside Group 2 Stutt Stakes winner West Of Swindon, who was purchased by Pure Bloodstock for $310,000 through the Inglis Digital online auction in May.

The latest intake reinforces Hong Kong’s enduring appetite for proven Australian three-year-olds, with black-type performers from the Queensland winter carnival again proving attractive targets for cashed-up Hong Kong buyers keen to target the further-incentivised Four-Year-Old Series.

The Jockey Club earlier this year increased bonuses for four-year-olds who contested the designated races for the age group next season culminating in the Hong Kong Derby.
