Sam Fitzgerald joins Ciaron Maher Racing

Dubbo Turf Club general manager Sam Fitzgerald has stepped up to a key role with Ciaron Maher Racing.

Fitzgerald, who has been GM at Dubbo since April 2022, has confirmed he has taken the role of Racing Manager for Ciaron Maher Racing’s New South Wales and Queensland operations.

Maher has New South Wales bases at Bong Bong, Bobs Farm, Warwick Farm, and most recently, Leilani Lodge at Randwick.  

Australia’s champion trainer, he has had 162 starters in New South Wales so far this season and 23 in Queensland.

Fitzgerald, who also operates Thorough Media Company, has also been a race starter in the Central Districts for the past seven years, while before that he was deputy chief steward, employed by Racing NSW.

He has mixed his club management role with his work as an investigator with the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
