Sportsbet promotes Damian Ryan to lead commercial portfolio
Damian Ryan steps up after more than 14 years with Sportsbet, with responsibility for commercial strategy and relationships with racing bodies, sporting organisations and regulators.
Sportsbet has promoted Damian Ryan to general manager, commercial, putting the long-serving executive in charge of its commercial, corporate development and industry portfolio.
Ryan has more than 14 years’ experience with Sportsbet and was most recently head of industry, commercial and partnerships, the company said. He joined the bookmaker in rugby league trading before taking on several leadership roles in racing.
“Throughout his time at Sportsbet, Damian has built strong industry relationships across Australia and internationally, alongside a deep understanding of our customers, our business and the markets in which we operate,” Sportsbet said.
In its announcement, Sportsbet said Ryan’s remit would include “driving commercial strategy, strengthening key partnerships and agreements, and working closely with racing and sporting bodies, regulators and industry stakeholders to identify new opportunities and support Sportsbet’s long-term strategic direction”.
