Vale trainer and jockey Harry Williams

The NSW racing industry is mourning the death of respected former jockey and trainer Harry Williams.

Williams, who rode with success in western NSW before retiring from the saddle, is the father of successful Goulburn trainer Danny Williams. He was 83.

As a jockey, he was closely associated with trainer John Lundholm between the 1960s through until the 1980s before turning his hand to training.

Harry Williams trained firstly at Coonamble and then Hawkesbury. He is also the grandfather of the late Reece Potter, a picnic jockey who was killed in a race fall in 2011.
