Bella Nipotina or Amelia’s Jewel to rule Chairman’s Sale
A collection of some of Australasia’s best broodmares offered at auction this year will go under the hammer at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale and none are more anticipated than Bella Nipotina.

The first mare to win The Everest, the now retired seven-year-old Bella Nipotina, an eight-time stakes winner, will be sold on Thursday night for multiple millions of dollars.
Just how much she sells for is an educated guess, but the fact she is an Everest winner with an additional three Group 1s to her name carries plenty of currency with high-end breeders domestically and possibly also internationally.
The late-blooming mare, who won three of her four Group 1s during a stellar calendar year 2024, won’t be the only seven-figure mare to be sold at Inglis’s Riverside Stables complex during the select 96-lot sale.
She could be on the radar of the likes of Yulong’s Zhang Yuesheng, the industry’s biggest investor in recent years and who paid an Australasian record of $6.6 million for Imperatriz at the Magic Millions last year, Coolmore as well as overseas buyers from Japan, Europe and America.
Meanwhile, Amelia’s Jewel, the Perth Group 1-winning mare who is by champion French sire Siyouni, could arguably threaten Bella Nipotina for highest-priced honours at the sale.
The second last lot to go through the ring at the Inglis complex, Amelia’s Jewel’s age as a rising six-year-old compared to Bella Nipotina as an eight-year-old when she goes to stud could also be a factor in how much each mare sells for.
A 10-time winner from 24 starts, Amelia’s Jewel is also a half-sister to the stakes-winning and twice Group 1-placed colt Bosustow who could add to the family’s value when he runs in Saturday’s Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas.
Bosustow also carries a nomination for the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap at Eagle Farm in June.
Bella Nipotina and Amelia’s Jewel, and possibly the likes of I Am Me could also potentially set a Chairman’s Sale record, currently held by Nimalee, who sold for $3.6 million in 2023.
The Chairman’s Sale starts at 5pm.
