Flemington’s solar solution – VRC strikes new energy partnership
Flemington Racecourse will begin the rollout of on-site solar infrastructure following the announcement of a new multi‑year partnership between the Victoria Racing Club and Australian technology provider Sharp EIT Solutions.
Under the agreement, Sharp EIT Solutions becomes the VRC’s inaugural Green Energy Partner.
The partnership will see solar panels installed across major Flemington buildings, including the rooftops of the Hill Stand and Grandstand, helping reduce reliance on traditional electricity sources and lower long‑term energy costs.
VRC Chief Executive Kylie Rogers said the initiative aligns with the Club’s responsibility as a global racing and major events destination.
“It is fantastic to welcome Sharp EIT Solutions as the Club’s inaugural Green Energy Partner,” Rogers said.
“As a global leader in racing and major events, we are always looking for ways to strengthen our sustainable business practices, and introducing solar infrastructure will reduce our reliance on traditional electricity at Flemington.”
Sharp EIT Solutions Managing Director Mario Bernatovic said the partnership reflects growing momentum behind renewable energy adoption across the commercial sector.
“Organisations are increasingly looking for smarter and more sustainable ways to manage long-term energy costs and operational efficiency,” Bernatovic said.
“This partnership with the Victoria Racing Club demonstrates how large-scale organisations can embrace renewable energy infrastructure in a practical and commercially effective way, while supporting broader sustainability goals.”
As part of the arrangement, Sharp EIT Solutions will also retain naming rights to the Group 1 $2 million Sharp EIT All‑Star Mile and sponsor races across the autumn, winter and Melbourne Cup Carnivals.
