Richard Litt pays tribute to Ottavio Galletta

Trainer Richard Litt has paid an emotional tribute to prominent racehorse owner Ottavio Galletta, remembering him as a loyal supporter, trusted friend and integral part of his stable’s success.

Galletta, who owned Group 1-winning gallopers Castelvecchio and Profondo during their time under Litt’s care, passed away this week.

“It is with immense sadness that I say goodbye to my great friend and stable supporter Ottavio Galletta,” Litt said on Facebook.

The trainer said Galletta’s contribution to both his stable and career could not be overstated, describing him as a man whose loyalty and belief in his ability left a lasting impact.

“There are no words to describe how much gratitude I feel towards Ottavio for all he has done for the stable, and for my career,” Litt said.

Galletta entrusted Litt with some of the most talented horses to pass through the stable, including dual Group 1 winner Castelvecchio and fellow Group 1 victor Profondo, a gesture the trainer said demonstrated remarkable confidence in their partnership.

“The faith and loyalty he showed when he entrusted me with horses like Castelvecchio and Profondo will never be forgotten,” he said.

“I will miss his support, our conversations, and our wonderful friendship.”

Galletta, who worked in construction, was a respected figure within the Australian thoroughbred industry and invested heavily in bloodstock, including the sale-topping $1.9 million he paid for Deep Impact’s son Profondo on the Gold Coast in 2020.
