Klocke bound for Hong Kong after $400,000 Inglis Digital Sale

Stakes-placed Zoustar colt Klocke will continue his career in Hong Kong after the Good Time Syndicate paid $400,000 for the Chris Waller-trained three-year-old to top the Inglis Digital November (Early) Online Sale.

Offered by the Coolmore Colts Syndicate and Eric Koh, Klocke drew domestic and international bidding before selling to Good Time Syndicate’s Pato Leung. Leung said a trainer would be chosen once he had seen how the colt trained, with the feature four-year-old series a possible target.

“He could target the 4YO Series if he can get out to a distance. I don’t know if he’s up to a [Hong Kong] Derby but we’ll certainly see how far we can get him,” Leung said.

Klocke has had four starts for three seconds, the best of them a narrow defeat by The Machine Gun in the Listed Tattersall’s Stakes at Eagle Farm in June. He cost $500,000 at the 2025 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, where a restarted auction led Koh and Coolmore to share the colt.

“We were hoping he’d be a stallion prospect initially, we had big dreams but it didn’t work out and Coolmore were keen to move him on, which was fine, and the easiest way was to put it online with Inglis Digital,” Koh said.

Brian McGuire, representing the Colts Syndicate, said Leung was a repeat buyer of the syndicate’s horses. McGuire pointed to Cap Ferrat, whom Coolmore sold privately before he won the 2025 Hong Kong Derby.

Klocke’s price tops recent Inglis Digital resales of young Coolmore colts. Equerry made $340,000 for Hong Kong last November and Patonga $255,000 in December, while Confederation sold for $205,000 last month to stay in Australia.

The sale’s second-top lot was Wrote To Arataki, a four-time Group-winning eight-year-old mare with more than $930,000 in prize money. Rollo Thomassi bought her for $150,000.

The sale grossed $2,270,000. Entries for the November (Late) sale, which runs from November 13 to 18, close at midnight on November 11.
