Devil Night retired to stud

Blue Diamond winner Devil Night has been retired after a hoof setback ruled him out of the Doomben 10,000.

The son of Extreme Choice, a winner of over $1.7 million, including his victory in the 2025 Blue Diamond, where defeated subsequent Group 1 winner Tentyris, will now head to Yulong’s newly acquired stud at Segenhoe.

Yulong confirmed the injury would end the three-year-old’s racing career, which saw him also run third in the William Reid Stakes across nine starts for Team Hawkes.

Devil Night is closely related to fellow Yulong stallion Pierata and a half-brother to Group 3 winner Our Playboy.

He was a $1.4 million buy out of the Kingstar Farm draft at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

He will be joined by Alabama Express, Tagaloa, Luckly Vega and Private Harry in Yulong’s debut season in the Hunter Valley.
