EMR platform to support Melbourne spring carnival welfare

Racing Victoria will use Equine MediRecord welfare software to monitor horses competing in the Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup during the 2026 spring racing carnival.

The agreement will make a tailored version of the platform available to Australian-trained horses and international competitors in the three feature races.

The system will allow trainers and veterinarians to access and manage veterinary information while meeting the carnival’s veterinary protocols.

The technology is designed to make veterinary records more accessible and streamline the processes involved in monitoring horses competing in the three races.

The agreement forms part of Racing Victoria’s ongoing focus on equine welfare, using technology to support the veterinary teams responsible for the care of competing horses.
