Half Yours under cloud for Doomben Cup
Melbourne Cup winner Half Yours will undergo a race morning examination before being cleared to start in Saturday’s Doomben Cup after veterinary officials detected lameness in his right hind leg on Friday.
The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained stayer was the only runner not to pass routine veterinary inspections for the Group 1 feature, for which last-start Hollindale Stakes winner Pride Of Jenni is favourite narrowly ahead of Birdman.
Half Yours, winner of both the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup in the spring, is chasing a maiden Group 1 weight-for-age victory that could set him up for a tilt at the Cox Plate at Flemington in the spring.
The vet test will take place prior to the 7.30am scratching time.
