Moody sends Pozman north for three-month Qld stint

Victorian apprentice Emily Pozman will begin a three-month loan stint in Queensland at Eagle Farm on Saturday as she looks to build her experience during Melbourne’s busy spring carnival.

The 28-year-old, who has ridden 16 metropolitan winners, arrived in Brisbane last Thursday and has since completed trackwork at Deagon and ridden in trials ahead of her first race rides in Queensland.

Pozman has spent at least five years with Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman and was directed to trainer Kelly Schweida by Moody for the interstate stint.

“I just think it’s a great opportunity,” Pozman told Racing Queensland.

“It’s been a big step for me to move away from home, where I’m comfortable. I’ve been working for Peter Moody for the last five years at least. So, that place was like a second home to me. So, just coming up here and making new connections and friendships, it’s fantastic.
“And, whether it’s just the three months that I stay or I decide to stay on longer, I just look at it as a three-month period that I’m able to learn.

“Nothing negative is really going to come from it. I’m going to experience a lot of different racing and ride against different jockeys and for different trainers. I’m growing as a person, as well, by getting out of Victoria.”
