NZ Oaks winner joins Waller stable for Sydney autumn bid

Ohope Wins, the dominant in the New Zealand Oaks at Ellerslie, will continue her career in Australia after being transferred to the Sydney stable of Chris Waller.

A Yulong Investments purchase ahead of her Oaks triumph, Ohope Wins will bypass the New Zealand Derby in favour of a Sydney autumn campaign that is expected to include the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill before a tilt at the Group 1 ATC Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick.

The daughter of Ocean Park stamped herself as a genuine staying filly with a powerful finishing burst in the New Zealand Oaks, drawing clear late to secure her maiden elite-level success under co-trainers Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott.

In futures markets for the ATC Australian Oaks, Ohope Wins has been installed as a clear favourite at around $2.50.

Recent fillies to complete the trans-Tasman New Zealand Oaks-Australian Oaks double include Bonneval in 2017 and Pennyweka in 2023.
