Skyhook set to become first horse to contest Golden Slipper, Golden Rose and Golden Eagle

Skyhook will become the first horse to contest the Golden Slipper, Golden Rose and Golden Eagle when he lines up in the $10 million race at Randwick on Saturday, and co-trainer Sterling Alexiou believes the four-year-old is ready to peak despite drawing barrier 16.

The son of Written Tycoon, trained by Gerald Ryan and Alexiou, finished seventh in the 2025 Golden Slipper and fourth in the Golden Rose that spring.

“You don’t often get to race a horse in a Golden Slipper, Golden Rose and Golden Eagle so the owners are in that entitled position and hopefully we can convert,” Alexiou told Racing NSW.

“This has been our aim all preparation and he’s been ready to peak up in this race.”

The prospect of a horse winning all three Golden races was first mooted when the Golden Eagle was launched in 2018, with a $5 million bonus for what was termed Golden Slam.
