Stakes-winning fillies headed to Zoustar
The team behind Australian champion Zoustar spent $1.9 million on two mares at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale to go to the Widden stallion in the 2026 breeding season.
Tweenhills Stud David Redvers and Widden’s Antony Thompson have enjoyed the spoils of Zoustar’s success and were busy in the race fillies section of the sale, securing both Memo and Miss Celine in quick succession.
Group 3 winner Memo is by Capitalist out of Fastnet Rock mare Notation and has won $863,550 for trainer Peter Snowden across a 14-start career.
She cost $1.1 million and while she is only three, Thompson is keen to get her to the breeding barn.
“This is in our wheelhouse. We have had a lot of luck with these types of mares. Humma Humma comes to mind as a similar type. We paid a million dollars for her,” he said.
“When I saw Memo, she reminded me of Humma Humma and that gave us some confidence with the success we’ve had with her.
“She looks perfect for Zoustar. There is Fastnet Rock in the pedigree which works so well. Capitalist will suit and there are a few other parts of the pedigree that go well with Zoustar.”
Three lots later, Magnus filly Miss Celine, a Listed winning sister to proven commercial producer Enbihaar was purchased by the same connections for $800,000.
“We’re looking for early, nice, young sexy mares to go to Zoustar and we bought her and Memo just before for exactly the same job,” Redvers said.
“They’re exactly the types of mares that work so well with him and we’re very excited to get them. I wasn’t sure the company we keep here we’d be allowed to.”
“She had some serious talent and she’s from a proven family that just keeps giving and she’s exactly the sort of mare you’re trying to buy.”
