Trio announced for annual FBAA mentor program
The Federation of Bloodstock Agents Australia has named three mentees for its third annual mentorship program to encourage new people into the thoroughbred industry.
The program remains the industry’s leading structured pathway for aspiring bloodstock agents through face‑to‑face development and hands‑on shadowing with FBAA members.
The 2026 cohort will gain practical experience at the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale and the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale. The three mentees were chosen from a competitive applicant pool for their horsemanship skills, commitment to professional development and passion for bloodstock.
Rebecca O’Reilly has been paired with mentor Louis Mihalyka of Laurel Oak Bloodstock.
O’Reilly holds a bachelor’s degree in International Business Studies and works at Sledmere Stud, where she has developed strong practical knowledge of the thoroughbred. Josh Seward will be mentored by Peter Twomey of Wattle Bloodstock.
Seward is based in Sydney and is combining studies at UTS with stable experience under trainers John O’Shea and Tom Charlton while Lachlan Shore will be mentored by FBAA president Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock.
Shore, from Melbourne, has worked for South Australian trainer Michael Hickmott and recently completed a carpentry apprenticeship.
