Unbeaten St Gotthard sent to the paddock
The Coolmore-owned unbeaten colt St Gotthard, the brother to the breeding giant’s Group 1-winning stallion Switzerland, won’t race again as a two-year-old.
A winner at Warwick Farm in April in maiden company, St Gotthard was sent north by trainer Chris Waller with the Snitzel colt demonstrating an electrifying closing sectional to win the Group 3 Ken Russell at the Gold Coast last Saturday.
He had been considered favourite for the upcoming BRC Sires and Group 1 JJ Atkins, but Waller and the Coolmore syndicate have made the conservative decision to hold the colt back for his three-year-old season.
Bred by Arrowfield Stud out of Canadian mare Ms Bad Behavior has had three foals to race for two stakes winners, all by Snitzel.
Coolmore’s Tom Magnier paid $2 million for the yearling brother at the Inglis Easter sale in late March in partnership with agent James Harron.
Ms Bad Behavior, a daughter of Blame, also has a weanling colt by Snitzel.
