Warwoven matches Trapeze Artist’s Golden Rose rating at 105.5

Warwoven’s 3.2-length Golden Rose victory has earned a 105.5 weight-for-age performance rating from Daniel O’Sullivan, placing him among the race’s highest-rated winners of the past decade.

Only Beiwacht (108) and Bivouac (106) rated higher among the winners O’Sullivan compared. Warwoven sits level with Trapeze Artist (105.5) and ahead of The Autumn Sun (104.5) on his WFA Performance Ratings scale.

Trained by Bjorn Baker and ridden by Rachel King, Warwoven won Saturday’s 1400-metre Group 1 at Rosehill in 1:20.93.

Central Europe ran 13 lengths faster than O’Sullivan’s TopRate standard to the 600 metres. Warwoven was only 2.9 lengths behind him at that point, having raced close to a pace that tested the field.

“That is an elite performance. Beiwacht, Bivouac, Trapeze Artist and Autumn Sun all went on to win multiple Group 1 races. Assuming Warwoven stays sound, it’s hard to imagine he won’t join them,” O’Sullivan said.

The win gave Warwoven’s sire Sword Of State his first Group 1 winner. Baker said the Caulfield Guineas is Warwoven’s likely next assignment, with a Cox Plate start also possible.
