Queensland war horse Cifrado retired

Queensland stakes winner Cifrado has been retired after a 37-start career that produced six wins and nearly $2 million in prize money.

Racing Queensland confirmed his retirement. Trained by Rex Lipp for much of his career, Cifrado recorded 11 seconds and two thirds alongside his six victories.

Cifrado won consecutive Group 2 races in Brisbane as a two-year-old, taking the BRC Spirit of Boom Classic before winning the $1 million BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes in May 2023.

He later won the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate at Doomben.

By Encryption out of Madame Fly, Cifrado was bought by Cliff Little for $320,000 from Eureka Stud’s draft at the Magic Millions January Sale.
