Extreme Choice’s second French filly Extreme Dream wins on debut at Chantilly
Francis-Henri Graffard rates the Australian-bred juvenile ahead of Group 3 winner Primetime Emmy. She could step into Listed company at Chantilly later this month.
Extreme Dream, the second of Matthew Sandblom’s two Australian-bred Extreme Choice fillies sent to France, won the Prix du Jardin Anglais at Chantilly on Thursday.
Ridden by Mickael Barzalona, the favourite led throughout the 1200-metre two-year-old maiden. She beat Godolphin’s homebred Pinatubo filly Monday Cabaret by half a length, with Karakoum another half-length back in third.
Trainer Francis-Henri Graffard said after the race that he rates Extreme Dream above stablemate Primetime Emmy. He said she had needed more time after some minor setbacks and that 1200 metres is about her limit.
If she recovers well, she could return to Chantilly for the Listed Critérium de Vitesse over 1100 metres on October 26.
Bred by Sandblom’s Kingstar Farm and owned by Hollymount Stud France, Extreme Dream is out of the Dream Ahead mare Sweet Bouquet. Sandblom bought the mare for $40,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale. She now has three winners from three runners.
They include Extreme Dream’s full brother Emirate, who became Extreme Choice’s first $1 million yearling at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
Primetime Emmy won the Group 3 Prix Eclipse at Chantilly last month. She is headed to the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Keeneland, and a 25 per cent interest in her will be offered at the Championship Sale at Castleton on October 28.
