Jokers Grin cleared to run in The Shorts after normal blood test

The Chris Waller stable will proceed to Saturday’s 1100-metre feature at Randwick, reversing an earlier decision prompted by a slight temperature.

Jokers Grin will run in Saturday’s Group 2 Yarraman Park The Shorts at Royal Randwick after a blood sample showed no abnormalities.

Racing NSW stewards said the sample was taken on Friday morning. After receiving the result, the Chris Waller stable advised stewards that it intended to proceed with the gelding’s start in the 1100-metre feature.

The update reverses the stable’s position from earlier in the week, when Jokers Grin was ruled out after presenting with a slight temperature on Tuesday morning.

Jokers Grin joined Waller after beginning his career in Western Australia with Bernie Miller. The Maschino gelding won seven of his first 10 starts, headed by the $5 million The Quokka at Ascot in April 2025.
